Wachowski Bros. to direct 'Speed Racer'

Directing siblings the Wachowski brothers are determined to make a children's movie so their nieces and nephews can finally get to see their work.

Andy and Larry Wachowski are best known for action blockbusters like The Matrix and V For Vendetta, as well as the lesbian con movie Bound.

But The Wachowski Brothers are now planning a change of genre to appeal to younger viewers - they're latest project is family movie Speed Racer, which stars Christina Ricci and Susan Sarandon, and is produced by Joel Silver.

Silver says, "It's a big family movie - they wanted to make a G-rated movie (the US equivalent of a Universal rating).

"They said their nephews and nieces would call them and say, 'Why can't we see your movies?' They said maybe we could find a way to do that.

"They think some of the animated movies like toy story and Finding Nemo, are very sentimental. They want to make a picture like that, a movie that is not quite so cynical, but can be more fun."

After the Google's Personalized Homepage Workshop at Googleplex, Google has finally branded their personal homepage service as iGoogle...

iGoogle will let you build your own gadgets using wizards.

The gadgets are very simple and are more like containers for things that matter to you: photos, videos, events.

"Once the gadget is created, you can invite other people to view & use the gadget, and make it publicly available for other people to view & use it." So whatever you choose to add to a gadget will be visible to the people you invited.

The wizard let you enter the settings for seven new gadget templates

• Photo album - add up to 7 photos that can be rotated.
• GoogleGram - enter seven greeting messages.
• Daily Me - type what you are doing.
• Countdown - count the days until a special event.
• Simple list - you can use it as a ToDo list, shopping list.
• YouTube videos - up to 10 videos.
• Freeform gadget - add an image and some text.

The gadgets are a way of staying in touch with your friends: if one of your Gmail contacts creates gadgets you'll be able to see them in a new section of iGoogle called "My Community".
